Creiff High School, in Strathearn Community Campus Court this week, solicitor Mike Tavendale said his client had been responding well and had completed the work despite being in full-time employment.

Sheriff Gillian Wade allowed the order to continue to its conclusion, without any further checks on the accused’s progress.

The teen admitted that on March 19, 2018, at Crieff High School, Pittenzie Road, he assaulted the other pupil by repeatedly punching him on the head, to his injury.

He also pled guilty to butting the 16-year-old on the head, to his injury, in Auchterarder High Street on August 25, 2018.

Depute fiscal Catriona MacQueen said that the victim of the first attack, which took place in the school’s changing rooms, had been messaging the accused’s girlfriend, unaware that she was in a relationship with him.

The accused later challenged the other pupil but he “continually” said he didn’t want to fight.

When the victim refused to stand up, the accused punched him three times on the left side of his face, giving him a black eye.

The accused’s friend, who had been present throughout, “filmed the whole thing on his mobile phone.”

The 17-year-old was subsequently excluded from school and the police became involved after the school was contacted by the victim’s mother.

“Once again the whole incident was captured by a bystander and was placed on social media,” explained the fiscal.

Footage of both assaults were played in court.

His solicitor acknowledged that the videos didn’t “make good viewing” and painted his client “in the worst possible light.”

He was a first offender and the “red mist” had come down that day.
