Good report for woman after court gave her a last chance

-

A Perth woman, previously told she was“in the last chance saloon,”was praised for her response to a Community Payback Order at her latest court appearance.

Forty-three-year-old Kelly Ann Maguire had also been condemned for treating another court order with“utter disdain.”

But Sheriff Gillian Wade told the accused:“This is a good report.

“You have done all that’s been required of you.”

The sheriff allowed the order to continue to its conclusion, without any further progress reviews.

The Community Payback Order was imposed in June, 2017, after an explosion of violence in a city centre pub.

Maguire had been told to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and she was also to be supervised for 12 months.

The court was told that there had been a confrontation between Maguire and two other customers in the Burns Bar, County Place, on February 2, 2017.

She appeared“agitated and angry”when she entered the pub.

She then walked over to the other women and began shouting at them, calling one of them“a slag.”

All three began arguing and the accused punched Tracey-Anne Bryce on the right eye.

Maguire then threw a bar stool in County Place as the ugly scene continued and the police were contacted.

But when she was told she was being arrested, she turned on the officers, lashing out at them.

Depute fiscal Bill Kermode said she was “taken to the ground”and, in the process, bit PC Andrew Beattie on the right knee.

“She continued to struggle and was placed in the rear of a marked police vehicle and taken to Perth Police Station.”

But when she was read her rights at the charge bar, she continued her aggressive behaviour.

“As she was being led to a cell, she kicked Sgt. Graham Elrick in the groin,” added the fiscal.
