Students will be able to enjoy the new library

can also now use a self-issue machine to borrow or return some of the library’s 30,000 books and journals.

It is hoped the new library will support all students at the college and all different styles of learning with more study spaces available.

Kathleen Connor, the college’s library team leader, said: “Our library has been modernised and is a learning environment that supports many styles of learning.

“We renovated the library to create an attractive learning environment with new lighting installed throughout and the layout designed to maximise natural light.

“There is new furniture creating more study spaces while the new PCs and laptops are faster and more reliable.

“There is also now a self-issue machine to save students queueing when borrowing or returning books.

“Finally we have also replaced the carpets throughout which has given the library a new look and feel.”

She continued: “This custom built, modern space houses over 30,000 books, journals and multimedia items, as well as access to a huge variety of electronic resources.

“The library facilities and services are ready to meet the needs of our students, helping them to achieve successful results on their chosen programme of study, and we hope they enjoy the refreshed appearance and we look forward to welcoming all our students back for the new terms.”

Students at the college will be able to take a look around the revamped library during the annual freshers’ fayre.

Amy Studders, president of the Highlands and Islands Student Association Perth, said: “It’s fantastic to see the library newly refurbished.

“Highlands and Islands Student Association Perth is excited to welcome students to our freshers’ fayre on September 3 to 5.

“They will be able to see for themselves the changes made, and find out information on student life, their course and college services.”
