Invite to Dunning golf day

-

Dunning Golf Club is holding its annual nine-hole charity mixed open at its picturesque Rollo Park course on Saturday.

Every year, for the past three years, the club has dedicated one day of its packed golfing calendar to helping local and national deserving causes.

And the beneficiaries this time round are Playlist for Life, which provides personal music for those with dementia, and the Colorectal Trust Fund at Perth Royal Infirmary.

Broadcaster Sally Magnusson founded Playlist for Life in 2013 to provide real support for those suffering from dementia by sharing the power of personal playlists – all the tunes that are meaningful to an individual are gathered together to create‘the soundtrack to their life.’

Their vision is that every person with dementia should have access to a unique personal playlist and everyone who loves and cares for them should know how to use it to make living with the condition easier and happier.

Colorectal surgeons are physicians who specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of conditions that affect the lower digestive tract - ie the large intestine - and can lead to colorectal cancer, eg colon cancer, rectal cancer and anal cancer.

The Colorectal Trust Fund, also known as the Colonoscopy Fund, at PRI supports an outstanding medical team led by consultant surgeon Dr Claire Carden. It has treated many club members - and Dunning residents in the past - and saved lives.

The total prize fund at Dunning on Saturday is in excess of £400 and the overall winner will receive the Kettles Family Charity Teapot, with last year’s winner being Neil Morton.

“Our aim is to raise over £1000 for each of these two deserving causes,” club captain Alan Hill said.

And club members and others can help in any of the following ways:

1. By booking a tee-time - with friends and guests - to pay and play nine holes on the day.

2. By paying but not playing. The club would love your company but if you can’t make the date, but would like to help, just place your donation in an envelope and leave it with the starter. Cheques are also welcome and they even accept credit cards, especially for large amounts. 3. By gifting prizes for the tombola. 4. By sponsoring a hole, a tee or any part of the day. For those interested in supporting three and four, they should contact Alex Gordon at the club.

The day is open to ladies, gents, seniors, juniors and non-golfers.

“We have attracted more than 30 entries at the moment but are seeking a field in excess of 100 golfers,”added Alan.“It’s a Saturday, so most people won’t be working. We are appealing to everyone to support the club’s efforts.”

The tee times are from 7am-7.30pm and the entrance fee is £12, with £10 for juniors. To book a tee-time, call 01764 684747, or book online at: www. dunninggolfclub.co.uk

There are prizes for the overall handicap winner, those leading each section and division, magic 2s, longest drive and nearest the pin. There will also be a tombola and catering at the club’s famous Tee Room.
