This was a day we feared we wouldn’t see

came home.

“Her health was good, which is the main thing.”

It has been over two years since Jane got the dreadful news that Lily had stage four Ewing’s sarcoma.

Lily underwent 118 intensive courses of chemo, a major operation to remove her shoulder blade and scores of intrusive procedures before, in September last year, doctors gave her the all clear.

But, heartbreakingly, just a few weeks later it was confirmed the cancer had returned and Lily is now fighting an even bigger battle against this rare and aggressive disease.

But starting at high school has been a real boost for her and Jane has now set her sights on another milestone.

“When we got the news two and a half years ago, it was very grim, they were not pulling any punches. They were very worried for her.

“The goal was to get her to high school and she has managed that. Now we need to set new goals and it’s now about getting her to college.

“You try not to think that far ahead but we need to be positive.”

Despite only just starting at secondary, Lily is already “skiving” revealed Jane.

She is currently in Blackpool competing in the UDO World Street Dance Championships.

She will compete in three different categories but Jane reckons she is a winner before she even gets out on the dance floor.

She said: “When Lily was first diagnosed she was supposed to be competing in the Europeans, but she had to go through chemo.

“We were initially told she had cancer in her leg, so we never thought for a minute she would ever make the Worlds.

“She’s really chuffed.” Lily Douglas ready for school on Wednesday
