Motorists air concerns

with one revealing this has plagued her for six months.

Elaine Taylor, posting via social media on August 16, said: “I have had to renew three tyres in the last six months on a new car. Seemed unusual at the time.”

Stephanie Craig, posting via social media on August 16, said: “Two reports of slashed tyres last week on Alastair Soutar Crescent and one at the local shop. Found with long black nails in them.”

Richard Mackay, who lives in Morris Place, said: “I don’t know exactly [when the nail punctured the tyre], but when I checked the tyres the objects were gone. Just a hole in the tyres was left.

“I came in from Riverside Drive and went along Bayview Road, then Noble Avenue and then Park Road.

“When I parked my car the rear tyre was flat and I watched the front tyre deflate in about 30 seconds when I got out of the car.

“My dad had a puncture while I was away about two weeks before that.

“I’m not sure if it’s deliberate, although it does appear that way. Whatever it was, a nail or screw, it didn’t stay in the tyre over a short distance, which I think is unusual as it did pierce all the way through the tread.”

Carse of Gowrie ward councillor Angus Forbes has also been contacted over the incidents in recent weeks.

He said: “I have had a constituent complain to me about her tyres being damaged outside her home. She was fairly sure that she knew who had done it, so I urged her to report this to the police, which I understand she has now done.

“I am not aware of any incidents anywhere else in Invergowrie but this is very much a criminal matter and should be reported to the police.”
