Autism training for community groups

-

Community groups are being encouraged to attend training to learn more about autism.

Perth Autism Support will be running community group training, and want to make sure as many people as possible attend to learn how to support young people with autism.

The aim of the session is to make sure these groups have the skills needed to make sure young people are included in activities.

It will be held on Tuesday, September 10 from 6pm at the North Inch Community Campus in Perth.

A spokesperson for Perth Autism Support said:“As we approach a new term with community groups restarting in August, we are delighted to offer our community group training for the third year.

“The training supports staff and volunteers in community groups to have a basic understanding of autism and some practical tips to ensure you have a range of strategies to support young people.

“We are passionate about our young people having the same social opportunities as their peers and being able to access activities both within and outwith Perth Autism Support and this training is the perfect introductory session to allow community groups to ensure they are meaningfully including our young people.”

The spokesperson added: “Please note if you would like a larger staff group to receive training, this session can be tailored to your workplace and delivered to individual staff teams which may be more cost effective depending on your numbers.

“Should you wish to discuss this option please contact Angie on 01738 481081 or email angie@ perthautismsupport.org.uk”

Places on the training course cost £25 each and can be bought online via Eventbrite.
