Playpark has been brought back to life
A celebration to mark the opening of the renewed playpark in Invergowrie will take place tomorrow, August 28.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at Invergowrie Memorial Park from 3.45pm with fun activities available for children.
Perth and Kinross Council worked together with Invergowrie and Kingoodie Community Group to upgrade the playpark facilities.
The group held monthly meetings with the goal to improve the local area and assisted the project by distributing surveys to learn from local residents what they would like to see in the area.
Members also held workshops with the children from Invergowrie Primary School, and reviewed the final design for the playpark, which included: new play equipment; a bespoke climbing unit made from locally sourced timber and rope elements; improved accessibility; and landscaping works.
In addition to this, the community group is currently also fundraising for sensory equipment, to which it has already raised over £1000.
This equipment is set to be installed in the next couple of years as part of the next phase of planned improvement works for the park.
Convenor of Perth and Kinross Council’s environment and infrastructure committee, Councillor Angus Forbes, said: “I am delighted to see the Invergowrie park play area be brought to completion for the great benefit and enjoyment of local as well as visiting families.
“The community group has played a fantastic part in involving local residents to make their views known and to make sure we create a play area that will bring long lasting value to them.
“I also greatly look forward to seeing sensory equipment installed in the future which will ensure the park is inclusive for all. I encourage people to take the opportunity to come along and join us on August 28 to celebrate the opening of the playpark.”
