Airport announces new training scholarship
A new scholarship to help train pilots has been launched at Perth Airport.
ACS Flight Training, based at the airport in Scone, has announced a new 2020 flying scholarship.
The new initiative, which will operate alongside the school’s flight instructor sponsorship programme, will help to meet the growing demand for more airline pilots.
Those who win the scholarship will receive 10 hours of flight training towards a private pilot’s licence, a 12 month membership with ACS flight training and a Bose A20 aviation headset.
Two people will receive this scholarship, and the airport says they are keen to support individuals who might otherwise not have the necessary resources to gain flying experience and achieve their private pilot’s licence.
Craig McDonald, director of ACS Aviation, said:“We are keen to encourage young people to not only become involved in the world of aviation but also reach their full potential and are extremely proud to support this new scholarship.”
Students on the scholarship will be presented with their award at the pilot careers and flight training seminar in Glasgow, which will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel at Glasgow Airport on Saturday, February 29.
They will also be given the opportunity to progress onto a variety of professional roles within the aviation industry after completing their training, including going on to become a commercial airline pilot.
