Michael will relive Clutha horror in talk about PTSD

A man who had to overcome the trauma of surviving the Clutha Disaster will be giving a talk on PTSD in Perth.

Michael Byrne, founder of Lived Experience Trauma Support, will be speaking on his experience­s of trauma, mental health and complex PTSD on Wednesday, September 11.

The talk‘Male mental health with Michael Byrne’, which will be held at North Inch Community Campus, will be part of suicide prevention week.

A spokespers­on said: “Michael Byrne is the founder and managing director of Lived Experience Trauma Support Ltd.

“Michael’s vision is to be the world leader of lived experience trauma support for corporate and individual clients by creating unique, dynamic and innovative support packages that will improve mental health, emotional wellbeing and performanc­e in workplaces all around the world.

“Michael has a distinguis­hed 33 year career in local government and housing associatio­ns.

“Michael also has vast experience in overcoming trauma and is a survivor of the Clutha Disaster in Glasgow in 2013.

“Michael has worked closely and provided his services with organisati­ons including RBS, Barclays Banks, Zurich Insurance, The British Army, MacRoberts LLP Solicitors, See Me Scotland, The Scottish Recovery Network, Glasgow Health and Social Alliance Scotland and North Lanarkshir­e Educationa­l Services, as well as many others.

“He will deliver a 45 minute talk based on his vast lived experience of trauma, mental health and complex PTSD.

“There will also be a 30 minute Q&A session for delegates to ask Michael any relevant questions.”

The talk, which starts at 7pm, is hosted by Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnershi­p as part of suicide prevention week 2019.

The talk is free but tickets must be booked in advance via Eventbrite.
