Women to the fore as Solheim Cup nears

Women and girls across Perth and Kinross will be able to try their hand at golf for free.

To mark the 2019 Solheim Cup coming to Gleneagles, many golf clubs in the region are offering free golf to women and girls throughout the week of the event.

Locals and visitors alike will be able to take up this offer, which runs from Monday, September 9 until Sunday,

September 15.

A spokespers­on for Golf Perthshire said:“To celebrate the 2019 Solheim Cup coming to Gleneagles and reinforcin­g Perthshire’s position as one of the world’s most family-friendly golf destinatio­ns, several of the region’s nine hole golf courses are offering free golf to women and girls throughout the week of the event when playing with a green fee paying adult.

“Locals and visitors to the area are welcome to take advantage of this special offer, which runs from Monday, September 9 to Sunday, September 15. You can play nine holes in approximat­ely 90 minutes to two hours, leaving you lots of time to watch the greatest event in women’s golf.

“It is advised to reserve your tee time in advance and quote‘Solheim Cup women’s golf offer’to receive a fee round. Each green free paying visitor is entitled to one free female place.”

This will be offered at Blair Atholl Golf Club, Blairgowri­e Golf Club’s Wee Course, Comrie Golf Club, Crieff Golf Club’s Dornock Course, Dunning Golf Club, Killin Golf Club, Milnathort Golf Club, Mains of Taymouth Golf Course, Murrayshal­l Golf Club’s Lynedoch Course, St Fillans Golf Club and Strathmore Golf Centre’s Leitfie Links.
