Mills out for revenge as Carnoustie return

-

Fraser Mills and his Luncarty team-mates are out for revenge against Carnoustie Panmure.

The Bleachers lost out 3-2 to the Angus side in the North Super League last weekend but again face off against them on Saturday afternoon.

This time around it’s an East Region Cup clash at Brownlands Park and Mills, who netted twice in the recent fixture, is wanting payback.

He is feeling confident in front of goal and hopes the hot streak can continue as the season progresses.

“I think all the boys will be buzzing to get out on Saturday and make up for last week,” the striker told the Perthshire Advertiser ahead of the match.

“We want to do well in the cups and hopefully on Saturday we can get a positive result.

“Just now I feel like I’m going to score every game but that’s down to my team-mates.

“Deliveries into the box have been great lately making it a lot easier for me.

“Everyone will agree last week we didn’t do enough in the first half with a lot of bad passing and slackness.

“But the second half we really worked hard and definitely deserved something out the game.

“Once we got back to 2-2 I could only see us going on and winning the game.

“A few slack refereeing decisions at the end of the game stopped us getting a penalty but that’s the way it goes.”

Luncarty are hoping to be in the mix for a number of cups this season and Mills says the target is to bring silverware back to Brownlands.

“Cups will be very important for us this year,” he explained. “It’s always good getting a good cup run and making it to the latter stages.

“Bringing some silverware back to Luncarty would be nice.

“I think apart from the very disappointing Scone game, we have shown we can compete with every team in our league.

“And hopefully we can up our performance in the next game and get back to winning ways.”

Bleachers boss Jon Kelly has a number of players missing for tomorrow’s match but has challenged others to stake a claim for a starting place.

“We will need to assess the squad before Saturday as we are quite unlucky with injuries just now,” Kelly told the PA.

“We could be missing up to eight players for the game which is not ideal.

“But yet again that is why we have a big squad and this will open doors for others to hold down a place.”

Kelly knows his side need to start the game better than last weekend’s 3-2 defeat in order to come away with a positive result against a dangerous opponent.

“I’m not sure I would say it’s a good thing to play Carnoustie again,” he said.

“But it certainly gives us a chance to make up for last week’s defeat and try to progress in the cup.

“Last week was a sore one to take as the lads put so much into the second half. I’m sure come Saturday they will be fired up wanting to avenge the defeat.

“I feel we must start games better, so I will be looking for them to come out of the blocks quicker.

“We were the better side for long periods of the game and I feel if we start better then it would give us a better chance of progressing.”

Kick-off at Brownlands Park on Saturday afternoon is 2.30pm and all support is welcome.
