Juniors cup for it

-

Scone Thistle, Luncarty and Blairgowrie advanced to the next stage of the East Region Cup on Saturday.

The Jags defeated Rosyth 2-0, kick-started by Aidan Benvie’s first minute goal before Aaron Carlon wrapped up the win after the break.

“It was a solid performance and they didn’t cause us many problems, ”said Scone manager Derek Lawson. “The early goal gave us confidence.

“We defended really well and used the ball well from the back. I don’t see why we couldn’t go on a cup run, but it all depends on the luck of the draw.

“The league is our priority this year, to stay in the Super League.”

Callum Kirkaldy netted the only goal of the game for Luncarty as they got revenge on Carnoustie Panmure at Brownlands Park.

And Blairgowrie safely moved into the next round by seeing off Lochore Welfare 3-1 thanks to Davie Park goals from Darren Neave, Ian Plenderleith and Matty Adam.

The Coupar Angus versus Kirkcaldy and Dysart match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
