Roadworks on the A9
Motorists are to be faced with a 10mph convoy system on the A9.
Starting today (Tuesday, September 17), resurfacing works will begin on the A9 southbound carriageway near Auchterarder.
The £140,000 works, which are expected to take four nights to complete, will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night.
It will involve resurfacing a one kilometre section of the carriageway between the Scottish Water treatment works junction with the A9 and the A824 Auchterarder junction.
During the works, there will be a 10mph convoy system in place overnight, as well as a single lane closure on the northbound carriageway on Tuesday, September 17.
All roadworks will be removed during the day.
Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s north-east representative, said:“This £140,000 investment from Transport Scotland will allow us to carry out a resurfacing project for this section of the A9 at Auchterarder, ensuring our network continues to operate at the highest standard.
“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight and removing traffic management during the day however, our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential works on the A9.
“We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
The roadworks are expected to be finished by 6.30am on Saturday, September 21.
