Chef Praveen is named one of nation’s top chefs
Perth’sTabla Indian Restaurant came top of the Scotland Asian Restaurant awards 2019and owner Praveen Kumar was named chef of the year as well.
The awards inEdinburgh, held on Sunday, September 8, showcased the finest Asian dining experiences available in Scotland.
Of the 70 establishmentsand individuals shortlisted by a public votes, this list was cut down to the eventual category winners by a team of experts made up offood critics, food editors andtop chefs.
Perth’sown celebrity chef Praveen Kumar was pronounced oneof three chefs of the year across Scotlandand hisTabla Indian Restauranton South Street was voted restaurantof the year, oneof nineto get the title.
The RajMahal inKinross was the only other from the Perth and Kinross area to get the title which was mainly Edinburgh-centric.
Praveeen Kumar, a restauranteurand cooking teacher too, adds these key wins to last year’s accolades of being named world cuisine chef of the year, picked for Scotland’s curry of the year (for his South Indian chicken curry Kodi Koora) and Scotland’s cook school of the year.
Praveen was thrilled to be called up on stage at the Scotland Asian Restaurant awards:“I’m absolutely delighted and I would like to thank all my customers for their recommendations. My awards shelf is beginning to groan under the weightof trophies.
“It’s been an incredibly busy year,Tabla has just had its most successful quarter ever, the cook school is going from strength to strengthandmy meals range has successfully launched online.”
He was pleased to recently get the keys to his new food production and distribution units and plans to employ up to 50 people with the Indian ready meals range.
