Hotel’s kind offers of free stays to former Thomas Cook employees

-

There has been some joy for former Thomas Cook employees after a Perthshire hotel offered free stays to people who’d lost their jobs when the travel company went into liquidation.

General manager Innes Wishart spread the word on social media that the luxury East Haugh Hotel near Pitlochry would give a free overnight stay for two to the first five exThomas Cook employees to get in contact.

He told the PA yesterday that there had been a big response to the Highland Perthshire retreat’s offer of a break in November, December or January and that three bookings had been confirmed and another two ex employees from Thomas Cook had lodged an interest in coming.

Last week, following the news that hardworking cabin crew and admin staff had lost their jobs overnight with the company’s collapse, East Haugh put out a compassionate message that was seen all over the UK:“We are thinking of everyone at Thomas Cook who suddenly lost their jobs they worked so hard at - cabin crew, admin staff, store managers, sales and marketing teams, travel agents, pilots and many more.

“As a treat to give you something to look forward to, we’d like to welcome you to the tranquil surroundings of Highland Perthshire in Scotland as our guests. You deserve a break.”

Meanwhile, staff at the Perth branch of Thomas Cook have left an emotional message to customers in the window.

A note thanks customers for their support and adds:“It was never just a job, we all loved booking your holidays, creating memories.

“We are all truly heartbroken and so sorry it has ended this way.”
