Man lost plot after police called at flat

-

A Perth man lost the plot after he believed a neighbour had called the police, leading to officers turning up at his home in the early hours.

Initially, Jason Bodle, of Newhouse Road, was co-operative and allowed police into his flat.

But then the 30-year-old started shouting and threatened to kick his neighbour’s door in.

He was told to quieten down but when he failed to heed the advice he was apprehended.

He was fined £300 when he appeared for sentence at Perth Sheriff Court this week.

He admitted making the threats at his home on December 18, 2018.

Depute fiscal Robbie Brown said that police responded to the call at 4.15am in relation to the welfare of someone within the accused’s flat.

When they got there, they discovered the person“safe and well.”

Solicitor Paul Ralph said previously an allegation had been made and investigated by police.

“It was clear that the complaint hadn’t come from within the accused’s house.”

The lawyer added:“His dander got up.

“No threats were made to police but his behaviour isn’t to be condoned.”

Imposing the fine because of his past record, Sheriff William Wood told Bodle:“Clearly you have had experience of the police and courts before.

“You must have known that when police tell you to pipe down - and you don’t calm down - there are going to be consequences.”

Sentence had been deferred for the accused’s good behaviour and he had stayed out of further trouble.

Bodle was allowed to pay the penalty at £5 a week.
