PERTH ROAD RUNNERS

This weekend was all about the roads at 5K,10K, half marathon and marathon distances, with athletes eagerly seeking those personal best (PB) times.

First to the Great Scottish Run where 15,000 runners took to the streets on a dry day in Glasgow. Over the 10K distance: Sonjia Crow (42:30), Alison McCoist (49:19), Brian Kemp (51:46), Audrie Howie (57:00), Jane Dernie (1:03.24) and Douglas Robertson (1:18.23).

Twenty members ran in the half marathon: Duncan Ryan won gold in the Scottish Championsh­ip for Vet 50 category with a time of 1:18.38, Michael Souter (1:24.15 for a PB), Terry Hislop (1:32.49), Stewart Reid (1:37.52), Piotr Fieodorow (1:38.38), Stewart Dallas (1:40.32), John Rudd (1:48.52), Rhona Barclay (1:55.59), Maria Dale (1:56.59), Louise McLaren (1:59.31), Sue Jones (2:02.03), Kate Cowan (2:02.04), Linda O’Neil (2:03.58), Wendy Burnett (2:03.58), Stephanie Boyd (2:04.49), Michelle Ridgway (2:13.24), Steven Brooker (2:13.28), Rhona Henderson (2:14.38), Lenny Burnett (2:14.40) and Chic Lidstone (2:16.30).

Over in Anstruther, Alan and Sue Bothwell ran in the East Neuk 10k, Alan was 54:36 and Sue 1:03.44.

It was Berlin Marathon weekend, one of the quickest marathons on the calendar, and in fine weather conditions ,12 Perth Road Runners completed the course: Martin McEwan (2:52.00 for a PB), Kevin Riddell (2:52.57, PB), Ronnie Glen (2:56.19, PB),Garry Smith (2:59.09, PB), Gillian Edwards (3:26:42, PB), Catriona Liddell (3:51.40, PB), Grant Strachan (3:46.48). Tessa Ward (3:52.13, PB), Diane White (4:06), Hugh Daly (4:12.55), Caroline Malloy (4:29.10, PB) and Stuart Cairns (5:16.29).

To park run, and 33 members competed at Perth.

Campbell Hay was first finisher in the race, 17:49, followed by David Knight, and Lorraine MacPherson was first female finisher in 21:55, followed by Gillian Maguire.

Amy Bryson and Yvonne Bryson ran in Pollock and Kristen Bain (22.45) competed in the sweltering heat of Cairns park run, Australia. Congratula­tions to Richard Ward on completing his 100th park run in Hasenheide, Berlin, which also included 10 of the marathon finishers on the next day.

Also congratula­tions to Tessa Ward on completing her 100th park run in Hasenheide.

Another fantastic weekend, and some impressive mileage covered by the club. Well done everyone.

The club meets every Tuesday at 6.30pm for a run from Bells Sports Centre.
