Scouts take a hike...and win trophy
A group of 80 Scouts from Perth and Kinross have gathered for their annual hiking competition.
On Saturday, September 20, the group from a number of different Scout packs in the region joined together for the Challenge Hike Competition.
They were competing in teams of between four and six boys and girls for the challenge trophy and other prizes.

After some last minute revision on safety training and navigation techniques and a final equipment safety check, the competing groups were transported off to their starting locations for the challenge.
The weather held up as the teams tackled a 10-kilometre circular route in six hours.
They had to rely on their compasses for direction, and along the way they were tested on a variety of tasks including first aid, map and compass skills, emergency procedures and several team initiative tests.
The teams had to plan their routes between checkpoints and points were awarded for the accuracy of time travel and the performance at each of the bases.
The route was marked along the way by a number of hike marshals, who made up a series of bases along the route and provided the essential safety cover needed for the challenge.
It took all day to complete the challenge, and the competitors and marshals were all brought back to safety at competition HQ for some
