Students’ day to remember
There may have been royalty present, but the real stars of the show were over 300 students who graduated from Perth College UHI on Thursday.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, chancellor of the University of the Highlands and Islands, was there to congratulate the learners, before taking part in the traditional procession through the city centre afterwards.
Perth Concert Hall was packed to hear keynote speaker Cameron McNeish, an award-winning writer and TV presenter.
He urged the graduates to aim high as they move into the next stage of their lives.
BSc (Hons) sport and fitness student Lewis Melloy was awarded the University of the Highlands and Islands undergraduate student of the year award for Perth College UHI.
He was nominated because of his positive contribution to the college, the department, his course development and the support he gave to his peers along the way.
The late Perthshire chef Andrew Fairlie, who died in January, was posthumously named Alumnus of theYear. His wife Kate collected the award on his behalf.
