Vital food bank is on the move

-

Crieff’s community food bank is on the move.

For the past few years Logos in the High Street has acted as the base for the vital facility but from Tuesday, October 22, it will operate out of the King’s Centre next to Crieff Community Hospital.

Tina McRorie and daughter Savannah are volunteers with the service.

Tina said: “We are a group of people who all work together to provide muchneeded food parcels to people who are finding money for food a struggle.

“After starting out as a small group of volunteers from local churches in Crieff providing just a few boxes of food made up to save people travelling all the way to the food bank in Perth, over six years later we are busier than ever.”

Tina thanked locals for their continued support with donations and fundraising. She continued: “Without the generosity of members of the public donating food, and our valued volunteers giving up their time, we would be unable to continue this much needed service.”

Crieff’s community food bank is open from 1.30pm-3pm on Tuesdays and from 10am-11.30am on Fridays.

Food vouchers can be obtained from Perth and Kinross Council and agencies such as Perth Citizens’ Advice, Churches Action for the Homeless (CATH) and in person as a self referral.

Savannah said: “We require all non-perishable foods. Toiletries are desperately needed in order to help people feel clean despite their financial struggle.

“We recently started getting fresh vegetables every Friday, which we make up into bags containing lentils, stock cubes and enough vegetables to make a fresh pot of soup.

“Donations can be made by adding to collection boxes in Auchterader and Crieff Co-op, or by handing them inin directly to the food bank during its opening hours.

“We can also make collections by arrangement.”
