Pupils chuffed to be off to Global Happiness Conference

-

A group of school children from Perthshire are set to travel down to England to the Global Happiness Conference.

Four pupils from Robert Douglas Memorial Primary School in Scone will be attending the ground-breaking event, which will see children from 14 countries look at different ways of helping people to be happier.

The class has been taking part in a ‘global happiness’theme during their first term, and their classes have focused on music, outdoor spaces, food, conversation connections, games and intergenerational work between children and older people.

Now, Fergus Moncur, Ben Wylie, Ben Cunningham and Michael Wares will represent the school when they attend the conference from Monday,

November 4 to Friday, November 8 at Bewdley School outside Birmingham.

They will also host a bingo tea on Tuesday, October 29 to raise money for the trip.

Fraser Boyd, the class teacher at RDM Primary School, said:“The children will work with professional musicians and artists to create memories that help them to relate their findings back to pupils and communities in their home countries.”

As well as the bingo tea, the pupils are holding a treasure hunt, a dress-down day and are writing to both Perth Rotary Club and the school’s parent council for support, to try and raise as much cash as they can.

The bingo tea will take place at 6.30pm at the RDM school dining hall. Entry is £1 with bingo books, dabbers and raffle tickets on sale inside.
