Prepare to be scared by Spirits of Scone Fear factor will be evident at do in palace grounds

-

Be prepared to be scared this Hallowe’en, as the final preparations are put in place for the Spirits of Scone.

The fright fest in the grounds of Scone Palace takes place from tonight (Friday, October 25) to Hallowe’en on Thursday, October 31.

Visitors will be able to hear the scary stories of the palace grounds, and see if they are brave enough to take on the maze in the dark.

Vicky Glennie from Create Events is one of those organising this year’s Spirits of Scone, and says this year will be even more intense.

She said: “Visitors will experience a forest walk, a maze, a seance (if the ghosts want to come out and play) and storytelling in the ‘tipi of terror’.

“There will be a number of distinct areas, each offering a different fear factor.

“There will be a wide variety of characters around the grounds, so hopefully something for everyone who has a particular fear.

“We are making use of the forest and the grounds, the maze and the graveyard.

“Fear is subjective - I try to include a mixture of characters and experiences and hope that everybody gets at least one big fright.

“There will be certain characters that are not as scary for some people but are genuinely terrifying for others.”

She added: “It will have a dark and different route, new characters to meet and more interaction - not just jump scares.

“The route is more intense this year, and as the visitors leave one area, they are immediately plunged into the next area, so there shouldn’t be any let up for the scares until they are safely back at the palace.”

A number of local actors have been drafted in to give visitors a fright when they visit Spirits of Scone along with staging from NL Productions.

Actors from Perth-based Ad-Lib Theatre Arts and drama students from Perth College UHI will all be getting dressed up and into character for the shows.

Vicky continued: “I can honestly say that my highlight has to be the enthusiasm of the actors.

“They are super excited to be taking part and are all looking forward to scaring the visitors.

“I am really lucky to have a wonderful group of actors from Ad-Lib as well as students from Perth College UHI.

“They are a really talented bunch who will go out of their way to give visitors a fantastic night of screams and laughter.”

She added: “It takes time to build an audience and by all accounts ticket sales are going really well this year.

“As the event continues year-on-year, the audience numbers are building which I hope is a reflection on us getting the content just right for our visitors.”

Hot food and drink will be served in front of the palace and outside the maze each night.

Tickets cost £17.50, concessions £9 and can be bought online at www.sconepalace.co.uk/whats-on/spiritsscone-halloween-2019
