CHURCH GUILD

The October meeting of the Mid Strathearn Guild was held in the session house of Madderty Church recently. It was opened by the president Mrs Heather Moir. After conducting the opening devotions, Mrs Moir introduced the speaker, Mr David Weinman from Young Life International. He explained that the organisation, which is fairly new to this country, is celebrating its 80th anniversary year in the USA. It is a form of Christian mission for young people between the ages of 12 and 18-years-old. It was founded by a Presbyterian pastor in Texas and aims to offer an atmosphere of fun and games in the form of after school groups.

In Scotland the highlights of the year are its summer camps which are held at Loch Monzievaird. Here the youngsters come and have a great time together with their leaders, at the chalets and in a gentle way are introduced to Christian life. David showed a couple of short videos of the summer camps and also introduced Jamie, from the Czech Republic who is helping with the organisation of the events. The vote of thanks was given by Alison Pritchard and the hostess for the afternoon was Frances Haggart. After the business had been concluded the meeting was closed by members saying the grace together. The next meeting of the Guild will be held on November 18. It will feature Euan McIntyre from CrossReach whose talk will be entitled ‘Join the Dots’.

The AM soccer schools are holding a coffee morning tomorrow at 10am in the TICC. All welcome.

People are encouraged to bring along samples of items which they are unsure of how to recycle. All are welcome to come along to the recycling event even though they are not attending
