Aircrewtravel farandwide

-

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) has been clocking up the miles this week as emergency calls take them far and wide across the country.

SCAA crew worked with colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Coastguard at the scene of a trauma emergency near Strontian, Lochaber.

A man was injured in a fall and was airlifted by SCAA to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at Glasgow.

The need to transfer a patient from Tiree to mainland hospital care took SCAA to the Inner Hebrides - again flying the patient quickly and comfortably to specialist treatment at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

And a medical emergency near Lochgilphead required SCAA’s speed to airlift a specialist trauma team from Glasgow to the patient at the remote location as quickly as possible.

Slightly closer to home, SCAA was quickly on scene when a man sustained serious injuries in a fall from a roof at a building in Stirlingshire.

SCAA paramedics worked with SAS and trauma team colleagues at the scene before the patient was taken by land ambulance to hospital.

Pitlochry Highland Games has made a heavyweight donation of £1000 to SCAA following this year’s event.

And high-stepping enthusiasts helped raise £500 for the air ambulance charity at a charity line dancing weekend held in Perth recently.

Ayrshire Car Club was the latest group to enjoy a tour of Morris Leslie’s vintage car collection and be invited to make a donation to SCAA. Their collection raised £220. And members of the Case of Gowrie Ploughing Association turned up a £150 donation for SCAA at their recent annual prize-giving dinner dance.

Thanks also to a Scone man who invited friends and relatives to donate to two charities rather than give gifts at his recent 50th birthday celebrations.

SCAA was one of the nominated charities and was delighted to receive £225.

Supporters are encouraged to keep depositing unwanted clothes and textiles in the SCAA branded collection point at Perth Airport. The latest collection raised £42.

SCAA collecting cans emptied and counted include: Inchmichael Garage £30.03; the Spar, Errol £29.51; Muirton Post Office, Perth 62.91; Perthshire Caravans, Errol £80.41; Muirs Inn, Kinross £64.52; Esso services, Edinburgh Road, Perth £37.16 and the Horn Cafe, Errol £57.33.

SCAA Christmas cards and calendars are now on sale at the AK Bell Library charity Christmas cards shop. The shop will be open during library hours until December 14.

SCAA cards cost £4.50 for a pack of 10, featuring two designs. Calendars cost £9.

SCAA will be collecting at House of Bruar’s annual sale on November 8 and 9. Have you been helped by SCAA? If the charity flew to the aid of you or a loved one, we would love to hear from you.
