BIG STARS WILL HELP PERTH SPARKLE Atomic Kitten and Nina Nesbitt top the bill for Christmas lights switch-on

A star-studded line-up has been announced for this year’s Christmas lights switch-on in Perth.

Atomic Kitten, Alice Deejay, Dario G, NTrance and Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt will all be performing on the main stage on Saturday, November 16.

And making a return after last year’s stellar event will be Catchphras­e host Stephen Mulhern, who will get the party going and keep things moving on the main stage, which will be set up as a centrepiec­e on Tay Street.

Top act Atomic Kitten enjoyed three UK number one singles and 12 top ten singles.

The Liverpudli­ans are best known for songs such as ‘Whole Again’ and covers of ‘The Tide is High’ and ‘Eternal Flame’.

Winter Clubland Classics featuring Dario G, NTrance and Alice DJ are expected to draw in a huge crowd.

Dario G is best known for its 1997 hit ‘Sunchyme’ which reached number two in the UK singles chart.

NTrance is a British electronic music group that has sold over five million records worldwide.

Some of their best known hit singles include ‘Set you free,’ ‘Forever’ and covers of the popular 1970s disco songs ‘Stayin’ Alive,’ ‘D.I.S.C.O .’ ‘Shake ya body’ and ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’

Meanwhile Alice Deejay is a Dutch trance-pop project best known for their 1999 single ‘Better Off Alone’, which was a worldwide success.

Nina Nesbitt, who is also taking to the stage for the switch-on, is a Scottish singersong­writer who has had two top 40 singles and is best known for her single ‘Stay Out,’ which peaked at number 21 in the UK singles chart in 2013.

Her first EP ‘The Apple Tree’ was released in 2012 and went to number six on the iTunes download charts.

Nina’s cover of ‘Don’t Stop’ by Fleetwood Mac was used for John Lewis’s advertisin­g, and in February this year she released her second studio album ‘The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change’.

Christmas lights switch-on.

He is best known for presenting ITV programmes such as ‘Catchphras­e’, ‘Britain’s Got More Talent’ and ‘In For a Penny’, as well as co-hosting the Sunday breakfast programme on Heart Radio alongside Emma Willis.

Other names who will be entertaini­ng at this year’s event include Lionel Vinyl, a top tribute act to Lionel Richie, Boomin’, Lee Memphis King, an Elvis tribute act and Giants of British Rock.

Giants of British Rock is a speciallym­ade group, featuring original members from Uriah Heep, Bad Company, Whitesnake, FM and Thunder, and will play a range of classic rock hits.

Local band Last Orders will be performing on the main stage as well.

It is a four-piece rock and pop cover band from the local area, and will play classic tunes from bands such as Guns ‘n’ Roses, AC/DC and ABBA.

Back by popular demand on the children’s stage is everyone’s favourite, Basil Brush.

Basil Brush, best known for his catchphras­e ‘Boom! Boom!’ is a mischievou­s fox who can entertain people of all ages, after celebratin­g 50 years in entertainm­ent.

‘The Basil Brush Show’ on BBC has been seen by millions of viewers all over the globe from when it started back in 1968 to the present day, and the show was nominated for a BAFTA and voted best comedy show on television.

Perth’s annual Christmas party will run on Saturday, November 16 from noon
