Cops’ plea after garden gear thefts
Police officers are continuing to investigate a spate of gardening equipment thefts.
Over the past fortnight, thieves have targeted Kinross Golf Club and Brig in Bloom, stealing a range of gardening equipment.
This comes just after Brig in Bloom won large village of the year at the RHS Britain in Bloom awards.
Police officers investigating the two thefts are now appealing once again to members of the public for more information.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland’s Tayside division said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information about two similar thefts in Perth and Kinross over the weekend of October 18-21.
“Firstly, gardening items were stolen from a storage shed at Kinross Golf Club, Beeches Road, Kinross.
“These are an orange and black Echo 520 leaf blower, and a green and black Titan TTB669PRW pressure washer.
“Both of these items are fairly old, and while not worth much in monetary terms themselves, will be expensive to replace.
“Secondly, two rotovators and a petrol lawn mower were stolen from a shed used by the Brig in Bloom charity in Heughfield Road, Bridge of Earn.
“The mower is red and has the words ‘Brig in Bloom’ painted on it.
“Again, these items are old and not of high value themselves, but will cost a considerable sum to replace, which is particularly difficult for a charity to do.
“Despite the general similarity in these thefts in terms of timescale and items stolen, we have no direct evidence that they are linked, but as always we will keep an open mind.
“If you have any information that could assist our investigations, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.
“Also, information can be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Our references are CR/28323/19 for Bridge of Earn and CR/28346/19 for Kinross Golf Club.”
