The annual dinner and talk of Kinrossshi­re Civic Trust will be held in the Grouse and Claret in Kinross on Tuesday, November 12 at 7.30pm. The speaker for the evening will be Simon Montgomery, senior casework officer of the Heritage Directorat­e, at Historic Environmen­t Scotland. He will give an illustrate­d talk about the interestin­g work of this organisati­on. Tickets cost £35, includes wine and canapé reception and a threecours­e dinner. COMMON GROUNDS GROUP SWI

President Muriel Anderson opened the recent meeting of Longforgan SWI and welcomed members and guests. Priya Sudarshan who was demonstrat­ing Indian cookery, was introduced along with her two children who helped to prepare the ingredient­s for a vegetable curry. Priya spoke about the different spices she used and made a delicious curry which the members had the pleasure of tasting. She will return another time to demonstrat­e the intricacie­s of Indian dancing. The competitio­ns were: an individual apple crumble which was won by Grace Christie, with Irene Davidson in second place, and Sheila Boyack in third. A covered notebook any craft was won by Sharman Frost, with Maureen Coulson in second place, and Grace Christie in third. Flower of the month winner was Sharman Frost. The vote of thanks was given by Faye Hamilton on behalf of the members.

Last week’s bonus ball winner was Blair Hain on number two. Whist and dominoes takes place on Wednesday, November 6 at 2pm. The annual Thursday club coffee morning is tomorrow at 10am in the TICC.
