Luncarty sign Mollison to bolster squad

-

Luncarty manager Jon Kelly hailed the signing of Scott Mollison as he looks to get his side back on track in the North Super League.

The Bleachers sit sixth in the table following their opening 10 matches and are looking for a reaction after going down 3-1 against Carnoustie Panmure last week.

This weekend has the Brownlands Park men on their travels again with Dundee the location for a battle with

Downfield, who sit one place below them. Kelly moved quickly this week to add to his squad, acquiring the services of Scott Mollison who has signed from Jeanfield Swifts.

The left-sided full-back goes straight into the squad for Saturday.

And Kelly said:“It’s been the toughest period I have ever had as a manager with injuries, with still six big players missing.

“But the club completed the signing of Scott from Jeanfield this week and he has the quality the squad needs.”

Kelly was taking positives from the Carnoustie defeat but also realises levels need to be upped in order to get the required points this weekend.

“I thought we looked very threatening going forward in the first half against Carnoustie,”Kelly said.

“And if things went our way we could have taken a 2-0 lead in at half-time.

“In the second half we dropped our levels and got punished quickly from a team high on confidence.

“I certainly have no complaints about the result, so we now look forward to this Saturday. We go there knowing these are the games that can shape your season and we expect a very tough game from them.”

In the North Premier League, Blairgowrie will have aspirations of consolidating their place at the top of the standings when they travel to BrechinVics.

Fellow east Perthshire side Coupar Angus take on Arbroath Vics for the second consecutive week. They lost 4-1 in the East Region League Cup last Saturday.
