Safe pair of hands on show at Hearts fixture

On Wednesday, 11 Goalkeepin­g Squad participan­ts took part in a half-time showcase at the St Johnstone versus Hearts home fixture, supported by coaching staff.

The P5 to S2 attendees all had a blast. If your child is interested to join the Goalkeepin­g Squads developmen­t programme, the next six-week block will begin on January 16, 2020 at a cost of £30 and can be booked via the website now.

Sessions take place at McDiarmid Park for boys and girls on Thursdays, 5-6pm. FOOTBALL MEMORIES - VOLUNTEERS The free Football Memories reminiscen­ce programme in Blairgowri­e is reaching out to local residents with a request for volunteers. Delivered on a fortnightl­y basis at Beech Manor Care Home, attendees meet for 90 minutes on a Wednesday morning to tell stories and use player picture cards to build and discuss their‘dream team’. WALKING FOOTBALL Rules are simple. The ball should remain on the ground, no tackles from behind and, importantl­y, no running.

Sessions are every Thursday at 7.30pm on the synthetic pitch at McDiarmid Park. Men and women are invited to get involved who, for whatever reason, cannot keep up with the pace of the traditiona­l game. No requiremen­t to pre-book, simply turn up, register and pay £4 upon arrival. PRE-SCHOOL KIDZ The Mini Kidz programme developed for pre-school boys and girls aged three, four or five sees children take part in fun and engaging football-based activities while stimulatin­g their imaginatio­n.

This programme is not only an introducti­on to football but also aims to develop basic motor and social skills. Sessions are on a Saturday from 9.30am at McDiarmid Park. It’s £4 pay-as-you-go. SAINTSTEAS­ER Last week: Liam Craig and Murray Davidson scored the goals against Hamilton in May 2010.
