Council’s house very much in order
Perth and Kinross Council is one of only three to be given“a completely clean bill of health”for its housing services.
The assessment was made by a Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) report, which has been highlighted to Perth and Kinross councillors.
The SHR, the body responsible for regulating social housing in Scotland, said it was satisfied that Perth and Kinross Council is meeting all of the relevant standards and outcomes set out in the national Scottish Social Housing Charter.
The report to the PKC housing and communities committee also highlighted that one of the SHR’s new regulatory requirements is the submission of an Annual Assurance Statement.
This shows landlords are carrying out self-assessment and can provide evidence about how they are meeting standards. The committee last week considered its first statement and submission to the SHR.
The statement will be made available to tenants to give them assurance that the council meeting its responsibilities and providing quality services.
Committee vice convener Councillor Chris Ahern said:“Our housing services continue to perform extremely well, achieving very positive outcomes for tenants and service users. The fact that we’re one of only three councils in Scotland told by the SHR they are completely satisfied that we’re meeting all their requirements reflects the their confidence in our approach and the services we deliver.
“We should be very proud of that achievement.
“We’ll continue to be self-aware, analytical, open and honest about our performance and will always look to identify where further improvements can be made.”
