Swifts frustrated with second half

-

A poor second half performance resulted in Jeanfield Swifts blowing their lead and returning home without any points on Saturday.

The Perth side were in East of Scotland League Premier Division action against Dunbar United and, prior to kick-off, were confident of a positive result.

All looked well in the early exchanges and especially when striker Chris McLeish opened the scoring, but Swifts struggled for momentum after the break.

And the hosts took advantage to flip the script and secure a 2-1 triumph.

Swifts midfielder Lewis Mackie was left frustrated with the result and knows consistency must be improved in order reach the upper section of the league table.

He said:“We believe we can beat anyone in our league and go into every game targeting three points.

“So it was really disappointing to come away with nothing especially after being 1-0 up. Despite only being 1-0 up at half-time, we were fairly comfortable.

“For the overall team performance to drop a level in the second half and lose the game was very disappointing.

“This season has been very up and down. We have had a couple of big performances and results.

“But we need to be more consistent overall and string a good run together to push ourselves up the table.”

Kinnoull were penned in for a trip to take on Preston Athletic in an inter-conference league match but a waterlogged pitch led to a postponement.

On the Junior football front, Luncarty’s North Super League game against Downfield didn’t beat the weather, the same as Blairgowrie’s North Premier game at Brechin Vics.

Coupar Angus, however, did get the green light for their away match against Arbroath Vics but went down 5-1. Rannoch Ramsay netted for the Foxhall Park side.
