Admits street disturbance
A 21-year-old Perth man who caused uproar after trashing his home on a city housing estate - and then threatening to kill police - will discover his fate next month.
Brandyn Campbell had previously denied the charges at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday and a trial was scheduled for December 3.
An earlier hearing had been set for November 21 and he had been freed on bail to his mother’s address in Perth Road, Scone.
But local lawyer David Holmes tendered guilty pleas on his behalf to two charges when he re-appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon.
The street outside his property in Campsie Road was locked down for more than an hour during the incident.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis called for a background report, as well as a psychiatric assessment, and deferred sentence until December 18.
The background to the two charges will be given then. He admitted that on November 3, at his home, he behaved in a threatening and abusive manner, shouted and swore and made offensive remarks.
He also admitted smashing glass panels in a door with a hammer after repeatedly striking it and also caving in windows with the hammer.
He then caused further damage and repeatedly made the police kill threats. He pled guilty to a second charge of repeatedly telephoning the Police Service of Scotland on November 2 and 3, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
In the course of the calls, he shouted and swore and made abusive remarks. He was subject to a May 24, 2019, bail order from the Perth court at the time of the two offences.
