Feeling lotto lucky? It pays to live in Perth

-

If you live in Perthshire, chances are you could be in with an increased chance of winning big in the lottery.

As the National Lottery celebrates 25 years of fuelling dreams of becoming a millionaire, the organisation has released figures showing people with a PH postcode live in the luckiest district of the UK.

The National Lottery confirms that 17 people have become millionaires in and around Perth since it launched in 1994.

And since it began, 121 top tier prizes of at least £50,000 have been banked by players in the PH postcode.

Looking back over the last 10 years, the chances of residents in Perthshire have slipped a little as the PH postcode has been the third luckiest in the country in terms of big money lottery winners.

Since 2009 there have been 56 top tier prizes won and nine new millionaires created.

Local winners who have shared news of their win recently include Caroline Smith from Perth who scooped a life changing £300,000 on a Cashcard National Lottery

Scratchcard in 2014.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at the National Lottery, said: “With 121 high tier prizes won in the PH postcode over the last 25 years, it certainly does pay to live in Perth.

“Over [that time], The National Lottery has been making amazing things happen. Thanks to our players, 565,000 good c ause grants have been given out to projects big and small, that’s the equivalent of 200 lifechanging projects in every UK postcode district.”
