A9 slip road set to close

-

An off-slip on the A9 is set to be closed for two days next week.

Road resurfacing works are due to begin on the northbound A9 south of Pitlochry on Sunday, November 10.

The project will see improvements made to a 400 metre section of the northbound A9 at the end of the Ballinluig dualled section and to a section of the A9 off-slip to Pitlochry.

It will begin on Sunday and the works will be carried out between 7pm and 7am each night.

During the works a 10mph convoy system will be in place.

However, the off-slip to Pitlochry will be closed off, with motorists who want to access Pitlochry being diverted via the A924.

And for safety, roads bosses have decided to keep the slip road shut during the day on Monday, November 11 and Tuesday, November 12 due to deep excavations in the road surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “These resurfacing improvements will help address any defects on this section of the A9 and greatly improve the road surface for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of road workers and road users, however we’ve taken steps to reduce disruption as much as possible by carrying out the surfacing improvements overnight.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience whilst we carry out these surfacing improvements .”

The works are expected to take five nights to complete, and should be finished by 7am on Friday, November 15.
