Thanks as damaged memorial is repaired

-

A community beside Loch Tay has thanked staff at Binns Group for the way their damaged war memorial was fixed after a dumper truck accidentally bashed the railings and partly demolished the wall.

The Binns Group lorry was coming down the Brae, a steep twisty bit of road at the foot of Fearnan village in Highland Perthshire.

The truck driver had to take evasive action to avoid a car coming up the narrow hill that leads to the main part of the village. But in so doing, the heavy vehicle badly damaged the wall and railings around the war memorial.

The bump could not have come at a worse time as there was little time before residents gather for the laying of wreaths to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Glenlyon and Loch Tay Community Council chair Sue Dolan-Betney explained that everyone in Fearnan is very grateful for the swift and careful way the Bridge of Earn company put right the damage to the village centrepiece.

“Binn’s staff were very quick to respond and sent men out to clear the rocks and debris off the road which were an obstruction to traffic.

“Then they returned during the week following and did all the repairs.

“On behalf of the village Glenlyon and Loch Tay Community Council and the Fearnan Village Association, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the Binn staff for their prompt response and the good job they did and in time for the remembrance day service which was much appreciated.”
