Event will help support PKC carers
Unpaid carers in Perth and Kinross are being invited to an event later this month.
PKAVS is running its Carers Connect event on Friday, November 29 at Dewars Centre in Perth.
Running from 9.30am until 3.30pm, the day aims to recognise and celebrate the vital contribution unpaid carers make in the area.
A carer is someone who looks after family, partners or friends who need help because of an illness, frailty or disability and is unpaid, although may be able to claim carer’s allowance.
The day is being organised by PKAVS along with the Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership.
A spokesperson for the event said:“It is a fantastic opportunity for carers to come together, listen to informative speakers, take part in interactive workshops, or visit stalls to find out more about the services and support available in
Perth and Kinross.
“The programme also aims to help carers take time out to consider their own wellbeing.
“Evidence suggests there are five steps we can all take to improve our mental wellbeing and if you give them a try, you may feel happier, more positive and able to get the most from life. The day will provide an opportunity to help unpaid carers to connect, be active, give, keep learning and take notice.”
Carers Connect is free to attend and a buffet lunch will be provided.
Those who need support to attend, particularly those living outside the city, may be able to get help from the organisers, and transport support may be an option.
