PORRIDGE DAY

A porridge day will be held at Birnam Arts Centre in Station Road, Birnam next Saturday, November 16. The event begins at 9.30am until 11.30am and is in aid of the Mary’s Meals charity. Come and help celebrate the annual event with a ‘beat the chill’ November breakfast. Organisers will be hard at work all morning stirring huge pans of porridge. Try a bowl with a wide selection of toppings or create a porridge smile on your bowl. There will also be granola, oatcakes with cheese and flapjacks, plus tea/coffee and fruit juices. All proceeds will go to support Mary’s Meals, a charity which provides a lifechangi­ng daily meal at school for over 1.5 million of the world’s poorest and malnourish­ed children for less than £14 each a year.

PROBUS CLUB

Members of Birnam and Dunkeld Probus Club will welcome speaker, Bruce Keith who will give a talk on bridgescap­es at Birnam Arts Centre on Tuesday, November 12 at 10am. Visitors welcome.

Remembranc­e services on Sunday, November 10 are at 9.30am in Dunbarney and 11am at Forgandenn­y. There will be a retiring collection for Poppyscotl­and. After the services poppy wreaths will be laid at the war memorials. There will also be a short service at the war memorial in Bridge of Earn on Monday, November 11 at 10.50am. All are welcome to attend any of these services. Carpet bowlers meet on Monday, November 11 in the church hall at 2pm. All welcome to come along and enjoy a fun afternoon of bowling. SWI

The next meeting of the SWI will be held in the church hall on Wednesday, November 13 at 7.30pm. Karen Wilson will be coming along to give a talk on reflexolog­y. All ladies welcome.

COFFEE MORNING

All are invited to the ‘volunteer thank you’ coffee morning on Saturday, November 23 in the church hall from 10am to 11.30am. Ron Smith will be coming along to bring everyone up to date on the recent church refurbishm­ent. Come along and bring a friend.
