Families are sought for homestay scheme

From noon until 3pm there will be face painting to add a touch of festive glamour to proceedings.
Perth-based musical trio the McAndrews Sisters will be performing a selection of festive-inspired tunes and popular Christmas carols in the castle
Residents in Perth are being encouraged to open up their homes to international students.
Perth College UHI is on the lookout for homestay providers, who will offer to host an international student from the college while they are studying.
Families who have extra space in their home, want to earn some extra money and would enjoy the company of students are being asked to get involved in the college’s homestay scheme.
A spokesperson for Perth College UHI said: “Our from noon until 12.45pm, and again from 2pm until 2.45pm.
The girls will be back on the stage at 3.30pm with Santa Claus to lead a carol sing-along.
As well as all the Christmas festivities, the children will also get to learn more about the Black Watch regiment and homestay providers scheme offers both international and British students the opportuntiy to live with a local homestay provider while they are studying at Perth College UHI.
“It allows them to have a first-hand look at Scottish culture in a safe and homely environment whilst at the same time improving their English skills.
“In return, our homestay providers can learn about other cultures, have a bustling household and a small additional income. hear about what Christmas was like in the trenches of World War I.
Every hour and half hour there will be an opportunity to visit the castle’s replica World War I trench and meet old soldier Private Angus McNiven who will be telling tales of how his fellow comrades survived the war during the cold winter months.
And at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 3pm, families can step back in time and discover winter stories inspired by the history of the Black Watch over a mince pie and hot chocolate in the castle’s cafe.
This part of the festival costs £5 per adult and £2 for children.
The cafe will also be serving a special winter menu during the day as well from 11am until 3.30pm.
Every child who completes their elf card will be entered into a draw, with Santa picking out the lucky winner who will get to assist him with switching on the Christmas lights in the courtyard at 3.45pm.
Entry to the winter festival costs £5 per child, with adults able to go in for free.
