Tegan aims to take home beauty prize

-

A Perth beauty queen has set off to compete in Miss European Global.

Tegan Honeyman (17) flies off to London today (Tuesday, November 19) with the rest of Team Scotland to compete for the Miss European Global Scotland title.

She has been training hard all year for the pageant, and is hoping she will perform well.

The former Perth High School pupil said: “I am going down to Kent as there are 10 of us competing for the Miss European Global Scottish title.

“I have been training for it since the start of the year, such as learning how to walk, practising in my dresses and learning how to present myself.

“There are three different sections - fashion wear, bikini wear and evening wear, and there is a team dance as well.

“We will be competing against different teams from Malta, France, Belgium, England and Ireland.

“An important part of it as well is raising money for charity - our charity is Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, based at Perth Airport.

“I’ve done bag packs, car boot sales and a donkey derby night, which was our biggest fundraiser.”

The top three from each country will then be picked, and the Scottish winner will then go on to compete against the five other winners from the other countries.

Although the pageant is not until Sunday night, the judges will have a watchful eye over Tegan and the rest of Team Scotland from the moment they arrive.

She continued: “I fly off today from Edinburgh, and there is a lot to do, such as a pyjama party and a scavenger hunt. “The final pageant is not until Sunday night. “The judges will be watching us the whole week, because they want to look out for people who are nice and friendly.

“Throughout the week you will spend quite a lot of time with the other competitors, so I am looking forward to meeting all of them.

“I am nervous and excited about it at the same time, it will be a really good experience.”

Although this is the first time Tegan has competed in a large beauty pageant and she is the youngest in the Scottish team, she is hoping to taste success.

She said: “I am looking to do well, everyone wants to win.

“I am most looking forward to fashion wear, because that’s where you get to show off your personality.

“There are different awards as well, the hotel votes for Miss Congeniality, which is the person who is the nicest and cheeriest, and there is the photogenic award for the person who takes the best photo.

“But the main one we are all competing for is Miss European Scotland.”

Tegan and the rest of Team Scotland will compete for the title on Sunday, November 24.
