Remote call outs for crew

-

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) flew to Lochaber to a medical emergency involving a little girl who required air ambulance support.

SCAA attended at the remote community and airlifted the youngster - accompanied by her father - to Raigmore Hospital at Inverness for advanced care.

And a SCAA teddy was deployed to comfort the patient in the aircraft and on her onward hospital journey.

The crew was also deployed to the isle of Islay this week to airlift a woman to mainland hospital care. The urgent transfer saw SCAA airlift the patient quickly and comfortably to waiting staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley.

SCAA paramedics also assisted at the scene of a road traffic collision near Shotts at the weekend, working with a trauma team from Glasgow and land ambulance colleagues before an injured motorcyclist was taken by road ambulance to hospital.

The charity’s rapid response vehicle was also pressed into action this week.

Paramedics attended a medical emergency at a nursing home where they worked with first responder and land crew support.

A mass flu vaccination event at Perth City Medical Centre, Caledonian Road, saw £626.82 collected for SCAA from those attending.

Thanks also to the fishing community. Loch Tummel Riparian Proprietors Association has donated £500 which came from surplus permit proceeds to the life-saving charity.

Other donations received at SCAA’s Perth Airport base this week include £50 from Cairncross of Perth“to continue the excellent work you carry out”.

Harvest thanksgiving services at Blair Atholl and Struan Churches reaped a muchappreciated £265 for SCAA.

And a further £86 came from Perth Film-makers Club following a talk on the work of the air ambulance charity.

A recycling bin at Perth College UHI continues to turn unwanted clothes and textiles into cash for SCAA. The latest turnover earned £15.20.

And a Blairgowrie man kindly made a straightforward donation of £100 to SCAA this week.

Locally placed SCAA collecting cans being emptied and counted this week include those from: Cairn O’Mhor Cafe, Errol £31.53; Ericht Retirement Home, Blairgowrie £16.92; The Green Welly Stop, Tyndrum £105.54 and Taste Perthshire, Bankfoot £122.29.

SCAA Christmas cards and calendars are now on sale at the AK Bell Library Charity Christmas Cards shop.

The shop will be open during library hours until December 14. SCAA cards cost £4.50 for a pack of 10, featuring two designs. Calendars cost £9. Have you been helped by SCAA?

If the charity flew to the aid of you or a loved one, we would love to hear from you.

Patients who are willing to share their story and experiences help SCAA to publicise and promote its life-saving service.
