I had to laugh at the latest rant from Thomas Burgess in last week’s PA.
Despite now knowing me, having never conversed with me and knowing nothing about me, Mr Burgess feels qualified to make assertions on my political beliefs.
This is a fairly standard tactic ‘emanating from SNP central or its environs’, to paraphrase Mr Burgess himself: brand anyone who disgarees with the SNP as a traitor or Tory.
Mr Burgess seems to spend a lot of his time disdainfully criticising “unionists”. It must be a pretty sad existence in light of the fact he gives the impression he can’t stand over 60 per cent of the Perth and Kinross electorate.
I was taken with another part of his letter where he seems to suggest Luke Graham is undemocratic because he has voted for Brexit when Perth and Kinross voted against Brexit.
An interesting point. I wonder if Mr Burgess extends that argument to the likes of Pete Wishart who, despite being on the losing side on a referendum on Scottish independence, has continued to beat the drum for Scottish independence?
Now, I believe that is Mr Wishart’s right and those who elect him are clear on his views.
But will Mr Burgess similarly pour scorn on Mr Wishart for not representing the views of his constituents? Or does it only apply to parties Mr Burgess disagrees with?
I would hate for Mr Burgess to out himself as a hypocrite.
And before Mr Burgess comes back with another tiresome diatribe, he should know I’m not a member of the Conservative Party.
I don’t even vote Tory.
