AMATEURS North of Tay Cup round two action

-

LUNCARTY ............................................. 3 STANLEY ................................................. 8

Stanley produced what was arguably the result of the day - knocking eight beyond Division One Luncarty ASC.

While management wouldn’t want to single out any players, striker Charlie Fertacz deserved plenty of plaudits and was named man of the match.

His five-goal haul went a long way in helping Stanley, who rejoined the amateur football set-up this year, to record this impressive cup triumph.

Also among the goals on Saturday were Jack Cormack, Douglas Thom and Connor Seaton.

BURRELTON ........................................... 6 FIFE THISTLE B ...................................... 1

Burrelton, who still hold memories of winning the competition back in 2012, are safely into round three.

In all honesty, they were never in danger of losing this Recreation Park encounter and took control of the match from the opening exchanges.

Both Brandon Calderwood and Michael Davies helped Rovers’cause by netting doubles but this proved to be a real hard-working team performance.

Man of the match Elliot Williamson, a central midfielder, was also on the scoresheet, as was Owen Hepburn.

KIRRIEMUIR THISTLE ........................... 2 ST JOHNS ................................................ 4

St Johns showed an abundance of character to battle back from two down and send Kirriemuir Thistle tumbling out the competition.

The Perth side were in danger of making an early exit when first half goals from the hosts left a mountain to climb after the break.

But the summit took little time to reach as St Johns smashed in four when play resumed, Paddy Deane grabbing two of those. The other two came from fellow striker Billy Carle.

RATTRAY .................................................. 4 LOCHEE CELTIC ...................................... 1

Rattray’s productive league form transferred into Saturday afternoon’s North of Tay Cup second round clash.

The east Perthshire side put in a sound performance against Lochee Celtic of Dundee to book a ticket to the next stage of the competition.

They were, however, required to battle back from behind after the visitors netted early in the second half to seize the advantage.

But a fighting spirit shone through with forward pairing Ross Ewan and Jimis Fleming doing the damage, both scoring twice to secure the win.
