Disruption due to work on M90
Traffic calming measures will be put in place on a section of the M90 near Perth next week to allow resurfacing works on the road.
The road improvements will take place on the southbound carriageway between junctions nine (Bridge of Earn) and eight (Arlary) and will involve teams carrying out surfacing repairs across the extents of Balmanno Hill.
The project is set to begin at 6.30am on Monday, December 9 and will take place over three days using 24-hour working, with all improvements due to be completed by 7.30pm on Wednesday, December 11.
For the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a contraflow traffic management system will be in place on the M90 between Bridge of Earn and the top of Balmanno Hill.
This will be in place between 7.30pm on Sunday, December 8 and 6.30am on Thursday, December 12.
The slip-roads for junction nine will remain open over this period.
In preparation of the works there will be closures in place for safety on both the northbound and southbound carriageway overnight on Friday, December 6 to allow traffic management to be put in place ahead of the works, a 50mph speed restriction will remain in place over the weekend.
Overnight lane closures will also be required after the improvements on Thursday, December 12 to allow teams to re-erect central reservation barriers.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing works to to minimise any inconvenience.
Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s north east representative, said:“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the M90. road surface, such as potholes or cracks, and will therefore create an improved road surface for motorists.”
