Groups benefit from funding boost
Two community groups in Perthshire have benefitted from a funding boost from energy giant SSE.
SSE’s resilient communities fund has dished out cash to both Butterstone Village Hall and PKAVS to help them protect the welfare of the most vulnerable people in their communities.
Butterstone Village Hall near Dunkeld received £1877 to install a generator changeover switch in the remote village.
And PKAVS mental health and wellbeing hub received £10,000 to empower people with mental health issues.
Julie Driscoll, activity engagement worker for healthy lifestyles at PKAVS mental health and wellbeing hub, said:“We’d like to thank SSEN for awarding us £10,000 from the resilient communities fund.
“We do our best to empower people all the time in our service.
“Now, with SSEN’s help we will be able to offer workshops, practical skills and provide‘coping’kits to every client to help them in an emergency situation should it arise.”
The resilient communities fund looks to enhance community facilities or services, or improve communication to support the local response in the event of a significant emergency. Over £140,000 was handed out in total this year. Lisa Doogan, head of customer service and stakeholder strategy at SSEN, said:“We’re delighted to see communities embracing the fund’s focus this year on building resilience and tackling issues of vulnerability across the north of Scotland.
“By funding projects to help protect the welfare of those most vulnerable, we can play our part in working with local groups and charities to build resilient communities now and for the years to come.”
