Football fans in Perth are being invited to learn more about a new book celebrating the beautiful game.
Football’s Faithful Fans is a recently published book with the proceeds going to help support African football projects in association with the Homeless World Cup.
The book’s editor is Dr Iain Whyte, a Tartan Army footsoldier and Church of Scotland minister who qualified SFA coach at the age of 65 and has been coaching African teams at the Homeless World Cup. He even once acted as a taxi driver for Eusebio.
Iain will be at Perth North Church to discuss the book and some of his experiences on Tuesday, December 10 at 7.30pm.
He will be joined by: Sandy Sneddon, the Church of Scotland’s Asia secretary within World Mission and lifelong Airdrie fan; Rev Martin Fair, the Church of Scotland moderator designate, ex-chaplain at Arbroath FC, and Rangers, Arbroath and Scotland fan; Kenny Stott, minister at Perth North, regular at Hampden and Montrose fan; and Paul Mitchell, a well-known BBC commentator – on a range of sports, and active elder in his home church Wardie in Edinburgh.
Like all football matches, the event will have a first half, a half-time interval and a second half. During the first half, each of the guests will talk about their own experiences, half-time will include pies and Bovril and an opportunity to chat, then in the second half, Paul will host a BBC Question Timestyle panel discussion.
Tickets cost £5 for adults while children go free.
