Non-harassment order for stalker businessman

-

A businessman who stalked his ex-partner over a three-month period had a three-year non-harassment order imposed when he appeared for sentence at Perth Sheriff Court.

Forty-six-year-old Graham Hendry has been banned from contacting, approaching or communicating with the woman, whom he was said to have been in a two-year long

“casual relationship.”

But when she told him she had a new partner, he bombarded her with e-mails and social media messages.

Depute fiscal Mairi Graham told the court:“On one occasion she was contacted by the accused who stated he was going to pay her mother and father a visit - and take them flowers.

“She stated in no uncertain terms not to because her father was recovering from a heart attack suffered a week or so earlier.

She found that behaviour strange as they had only met him a few times.”

The complainer’s mother had been“alarmed”when Hendry had turned up at the door with flowers and chocolates.

She did not invite him in and his presence made her “feel uneasy.”

Solicitor Paul Ralph said the woman had been doing internet work for the accused and setting up a website for him.

He thought there was“still a relationship of some sort.” But when he went to her home he discovered she had a new partner - and the“third party”was at the house.

Hendry, of Macduff Street, Glasgow, engaged in a course of conduct which caused the victim fear or alarm at Viewlands Place, Errol, between January 9 and April 15, 2019.

As well as the lengthy non-harassment order, he will be supervised by a social worker for two years and take part in the Caledonian Men’s Programme which aims to help those involved in domestic abuse.
