Have a say on waste plant

- RACHEL AMERY

Residents are being encouraged to have their say on the future of a new waste plant.

Binn EcoPark near Glenfarg has revised plans for a new energy from waste plant on its site.

The site’s owner Binn Group is seeking permission from Perth and Kinross Council to expand the plant’s capacity and modify the building design of their previously consented plans.

Although the schedule two application lodged with the council’s planning bosses does not require an official public consultation process, Binn Group said it is committed to hosting community engagement events to make sure people are involved and informed about what is happening.

Two engagement events will be held at Dunbarney Church in Bridge of Earn on Thursday, January 30.

The first will be from 2pm until 4pm, and the second will be from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.

At each event, independent chairman John Summers, who is also chair of Beautiful Perth, will welcome members of the public before plans for the‘next generation’complex are presented by planning and environmental experts.

Questions will then be invited from the floor with the expert panel on hand to respond to any issues raised.

Representatives from Earn, Glenfarg and Abernethy and District community councils, as well as Auchtermuchty and Strathmiglo Community Council in Fife, have already been to Binn EcoPark for a site visit this week, and will be in attendance at the public meetings.
