Council will clamp down on dog fouling
Perth and Kinross Council has vowed to clamp down on dog fouling at The Meeting Place in Blairgowrie.
We reported on Friday that the Blairgowrie in Bloom group want to see a ban on the animals at the garden area due to it being blighted by poo.
A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council has now revealed dog wardens would be “monitoring” the situation.
They said: “We know that the vast majority of people who use our parks and open spaces take a responsible approach to the time they spend in them, including disposing of rubbish and dog waste appropriately.
“It is very disappointing to hear that this has not been the case here with an adverse impact on the local environment, and the commitment and hard work of local In Bloom organisations.
“Our dog control officers will be monitoring this location as part of their regular visits to Blairgowrie, and we would again remind dog owners/walkers that they should ensure their pet’s waste is bagged and binned – either in a public litter bin/dog waste bin, or taken home and disposed of in their household general waste bin.
“Anyone identified as failing to clear up properly after their dog is at risk of receiving an £80 penalty charge notice.
“In the case of persistent offenders, the council would give full consideration to excluding anyone identified as such from accessing parks and other council owned property.
“Issues with dog fouling can be reported to our dog control officers either by calling 01738 476476, emailing dogcontrol@pkc.gov.uk or via our MyPKC portal – my.pkc.gov.uk/MyServices”
