DUNBARNEY AND FORGANDENN­Y CHURCH

Services this Sunday, February 2 are at the usual times – 9.30am in Dunbarney church and 11am at Forgandenn­y church. All welcome. Members of the congregati­on are reminded to hand in their jars of grace to the church in order that the money can be counted and sent to Unicef. The next meeting of the Monday club will take place on Monday, February 3 at 2pm in the church hall. Mike Beale, vice chairman of Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, will be coming along to give a talk on the work of the organisati­on. All welcome to come along for a cup of tea and a chat and to hear the speaker.

The next monthly soup lunch will be held on Wednesday, February 5 from noon to 1pm in the church hall. A Scots fayre of haggis, neeps and tatties followed by trifle and entertainm­ent will be on offer. It is open to all members of the community and everyone will be made welcome.

The Bridge of Earn Scout group will hold a beetle drive on Thursday, February 6 in the Scout hut at 7pm to raise funds for the Headphones for Hospital Radio charity. Entrance costs £2 for adults/£1 for children, and includes tea, coffee and cake. All welcome.

BOWLING CLUB

A whist drive has been arranged at the Bridge of Earn bowling club tonight, starting at 7pm, with doors open at 6.30pm. There will be no darts and dominoes event held in the club on February 21. A Burns supper event will be held the following day, on February 22, doors open at 6pm, for a 6.30pm start. Subscripti­ons are now due and the treasurer will be available in the club every Saturday during February from 10am to noon. Darts and dominoes winners this week were: darts - first Norman Gardiner;

Four local communitie­s are being offered 100 per cent ownership of two turbines located at Binn Eco Park wind farm. A public meeting is to be held at the Institute in Bridge of Earn on Monday, February 3 at 7pm to find out about the potential community involvemen­t and benefit being proposed in this venture.

Presentati­ons have so far taken place in Glenfarg, Abernethy and Gateside with this being the last one taking place in Earn. Earn community council is involved in sharing the informatio­n surroundin­g the potential community involvemen­t and benefit, to establish whether local people would be willing to be involved in this project.
